The Hand in Hand for Haiti Child Sponsorship Program is a unique program that links sponsors with needy students of Lycée Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable in Saint-Marc, Haiti. Sponsors receive updated annual reports and photographs of their sponsored children. For many, the children become integral members of their extended family, as the sponsors become a pillar of strength and support in the lives of these children.
Your Sponsorship Keeps Children In School By Providing :
- Tuition
- Supplies - backpacks, calculators, notebooks, pencils and pens
- Study Aids - tutoring, educational workshops and special youth programs
- Library - reference materials, textbooks, study areas and computers
- Infrastructure - ongoing school repairs and classroom improvements
Although poverty is the overriding condition that brings children into our program, they must fulfill specific requirements for enrollment, including:
- Be enrolled between the ages of 3 and 12, if possible, to begin building a foundation for their self-esteem and potential.
- Be in a state of economic hardship.
- Be living in an area where there are other children currently sponsored, or where other children are available for sponsorship so that we may deliver sponsorship benefits as efficiently as possible.
- Be in a stable enough environment that permits consistent and long-term contact between the child and our field staff.
- Heads of families must cooperate in order to meet the basic administrative requirements of sponsorship, including letter-writing, photos and family records.

How Long Will The Sponsorship Continue?
You can sponsor a child up to age 18. We encourage long-term commitment to ensure financial security for the child.
How Much Of The Money Will Reach The Child?
100% of the funds goes to the child.
How Much Does It Cost?
It costs $3500 USD to provide a child education for a year. The minimum number of years for this program is 1. You can also form a group to sponsor a child.
What Information Will I Receive About The Child I Sponsor
You will receive a profile and picture of the child within 21 days after the first payment is received. A progress report and picture of your child will be sent to you once a year, outlining his/her positive development.
Do I Get A Tax Receipt
Tax receipts are issued and sent mid-July for donations received in the first half of the calendar year. For donations received in the second half of the calendar year, tax receipts are issued and sent mid-February.
