DFASS’s Benny Klepach makes a difference to the children of Haiti
The travel retail industry-funded charity, Hand in Hand for Haiti has been given a huge lift through a remarkable donation from DFASS owner Benny Klepach. The Miami-based head of the world’s leading inflight concessionaire has funded two school buses to be used by pupils attending the Lycée (school) Jean-Baptiste Point du Sable in Saint Marc, Haiti. DFASS has also donated a van and is working on a further donation of a SUV. Lycée Jean-Baptiste Point du Sable opened in October 2011, the culmination of 20 months of fund-raising by the travel retail community. Uniquely, the school has not only been funded by the industry but will be operated by it (through the Hand in Hand for Haiti Foundation) in perpetuity, making donations such as Benny Klepach’s even more important. Klepach told The Moodie Report: “On behalf of DFASS I am delighted to assist in the invaluable work being conducted by Hand in Hand for Haiti. “Delivering a world-class school, transportation facilities, and educational excellence, give the children of Haiti a real opportunity to escape poverty and play a part in the development of their home country's future. "We look forward to playing a long term role with the charity.”
